WW II Battleship sailor tells Obama to shape up or ship out !
This venerable and much honored WW II vet is well known in Hawaii for his seventy-plus years of service to patriotic organizations and causes all over the country. A humble man without a political bone in his body, he has never spoken out before about a government official, until now. He dictated this letter to a friend, signed it and mailed it to the president.
Dear President Obama,
My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don’t believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.
I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos’n Mate. Now I live in a “rest home” located on the western end of Pearl Harbor , allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.
One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.
So here goes.
I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.
I can’t figure out what country you are the president of.
You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:
” We’re no longer a Christian nation”
” America is arrogant” – (Your wife even
announced to the world,” America is mean-
spirited. ” Please tell her to try preaching
that nonsense to 23 generations of our
war dead buried all over the globe who
died for no other reason than to free a
whole lot of strangers from tyranny and
hopelessness.)
I’d say shame on the both of you, but I don’t think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.
After 9/11 you said,” America hasn’t lived up to her ideals.”
Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn’t mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.
I don’t think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.
Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.
Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don’t, I’ll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue . You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.
And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don’t want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts , who was putting up a fight? You don’t mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don’t want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.
One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you’re thinking of.
You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.
You’re not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That’s not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.
And I sure as hell don’t want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle…
Sincerely,
Harold B. Estes

When a 95 year old hero of the “the Greatest Generation” stands up and speaks out like this, I think we owe it to him to send his words to as many Americans as we can. Please pass it on

This old man, Harold B. Estes, is telling the TRUTH just like it is! More power to you Mr Estes and oh by the way I used your model rocket kits, Mr Estes, when I was a young boy growing up in the greatest country the world has ever known, the good ole USA. All kidding aside, they have probably been outlawed by Homeland Security by now. President Obama you’re outlawed by the only Homeland Security document I really believe in, The Constitution of The United States of America. You’re a foreign national Mr Obama or Barry Soetoro or whatever your real name is. RESIGN, just resign and get the hell out of OUR country which is a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy! Just go back to Kenyan, where your wife now admits you were born or go back to some other criminal Islamofascist thirdworld dictatorship you’ve been bowing to. I’m sure you’d both feel right at home there with the other criminal arab terrorist that live there. You and your wife have stated that you’re both ashamed of America, well Barry and Michelle, America is ashamed of both of YOU!
BE SURE TO ATTEND!!!

Although I respect this mans right to say what he has to say, I don’t agree with what he says.
If this man thinks that everything America has done in the name of its people has been a productive or moral thing, then you’ve forgotten more than you’ve learned being an American.
1st of all, slavery was the blight on our history. Like none other. 2ndly, we MURDERED hundreds of thousands of Indians when the white man 1st showed his face on this continent. 3rd, we have started wars (i.e. Vietnam) for the reasons of special interests and that only. Do you really think that Reagans little special war was a moral one? What the heck did we need to be in that region for anyway?
Plus….add in all the hokey pokey the CIA was dipping its nose into. Sir. Let me tell you, if it weren’t for the FACT that we knew the Japanese were headed to Pearl Harbor, AND that we would have never entered the war if they didn’t attack us…PLEASE don’t sit there and tell me how holier than thou you are about the U.S. getting involved in WWII. Because at the time, the whole country was against us going there. You can ask my dad about that one.
Mr. Estes? I wonder. Did you write the same kind of letter when Bush invaded Iraq? Just curious. Because even Gen. Schwartzkopf said Bush Jr. needed in the order of 500,000 troops. Did you see the General of Desert Storm say that on youtube in 1997? Here it is.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfQG0I9eTWk&feature=related
Gee..it seems Schwartzkopf was dead right on the money. Why didn’t George W. Bush do his homework ESPECIALLY since Swartzkopf was his daddies General?
And then you’ve got ol Dick Cheney saying the same thing here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w75ctsv2oPU
So Mr. Estes? Did you write a letter to George W. Busch (drunk) and tell him that invading Iraq was a really bad idea?
)
BTW. Thank you for your service. =)
George Bush, Dick Cheney et.al. are American Citizens and they are proud of it. Shut up.
What ‘special little war” did Reagan start?………As fa as iraq goes check out some videos on youtube of Sadaam’s torture of his own countrymen………cutting off hands and tongues…..GO AHEAD….LOOK THEM UP AND WATCH THEM!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5pA59x72eg
We would have had to go in there eventually……..this time it was on our terms and time.
Some people like yourself just don’t get it, do you? You pull out the old slave card or race card even to mock the elderly who have more history in their single right hand than you all (collectively) have in your entire entourage. It is in the missing of his translation, the message to a far younger man than himself, that he needs to get his act together and may yet become a great President, that you overlook his wisdom. You digress from all that is pertinent to claim the soapbox for your own agendas and never give due credit to wisdom because you are so devoid of it. Pity is you, like the President (if he truly is), may never achieve anything in your conveyances of speech other than that of division and lefty attitudes that you so embrace. What this country is in dire need of is unity, not division; clarity and not obstruction (what has happened to the promised transparency – was it replaced with post-election reality of yet more secrecy and deceit?); and most of all a rallying behind men who have acquired the right to speak from his heart what most needs be heard – not more political rhetoric that opts to defend an indefensible position.
He says a benefit to old age is the ability to be blunt and speak your mind? I’m 25 and feel I’m extremely blunt and speak my mind! What does he mean by this? Anyways, I don’t really care, I’m just making a point, but I do wonder what I’ll be like at 95…
Steve Johnson…since you are not proud to be American then you can ship out too!!!! Bye bye
Thank you Mr. Estes for a very clear and precise letter that also shares my views.
Thank you for your sacrifice to our Country!
Teresa
Thanks for using snopes for confirmation. What snopes validates is that yes, Mr. Estes did indeed write this letter, not someone else. Snopes in no way says that the content is factual. Now use snopes to look up whether Obama is a Muslim or if he was born in the US.
Then look up some of Mr. Estes’ misquotes of Obama, like “We’re no longer a Christian nation”. What Obama actually said: “Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.” The word “just” is pretty important in this context, why would Mr. Estes remove that word?
Mr. Estes also claims Obama said that ”America is arrogant”. What Obama actually said was “…there have been times where America’s shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.” Obama goes on to say “Instead of recognizing the good that America so often does in the world, there have been times where Europeans choose to blame America for much of what’s bad.”
It seems that Mr. Estes has a difficult time using facts to illustrate his point. Yet I don’t blame Mr. Estes, I assume that just like many, Mr. Estes gets his news from very limited and biased sources.
All I would ask of everyone, instead of just getting enraged, try getting engaged. Don’t believe everything you hear, remember this is politics and there’s a lot of money and power at stake, so there is a lot of misinformation out there intended to manipulate voters.
Try snopes.com or factcheck.org or politifact.com or any source that has only the truth as an agenda, and it shall set you free.
I agree with a lot of Harold’s views.
I just want to point out one GREAT factor here that we need to remember. It would be a wonderful world to live under one nation that shares all religions, all ethnic groups, and all beliefs, in peace and harmony. BUT, until the day I (a woman) can walk the streets in Irag or Iran or any third world country in jeans and bare skin showing, and speak to any man the way I do today, don’t come over to my country (America) and tell me there’s going to be change and ask me to kiss the asses of non American people!
And second of all, the history and number of many men and women who died for our country so that we can STILL walk the streets of America as freely as we do now, need never go unremembered. I completely agree with Mr. Estes’ remark that Americans are fighting to remain Americans in our own country.
Are we discriminating against strangers. I’m discriminating against my RIGHTS as a United States citizen.
Don’t ask me to change for someone else, when they’re not willing to change for me, or accept my views as a Jesus Christ believer!
Obama is a free man who maybe has the right agenda, but doesn’t have a CLUE on how to go about achieving it so that America doesn’t lose her stars and stripes.
What next Obama, you gonna change the looks of our American flag. You do that, you’ll have millions of people knocking on the door of the “fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue”. Well said Estes. My salute goes to you, and you alone!
Alison
GREAT LETTER AND TRUE!……..I am sick of the left wing always painting America as bad and evil. We did not start WW2 and we freed a continent AND rebuilt it. Mr. Estes is right when he talks about Obama needing to act like a CIC. Mr. Estes has a right to say what he has said because he has actually fought for this country and seen his buddies die in battle. We could learn a lot from our elderly population BUT we don’t because we worship youth and beauty and superfical things……..GOD BLESS YOU MR ESTES………YOU ARE TRULEY THE GREATEST GENERATION!
I like what he said. I feel the same way. I feel that we as citizens need to rise up and fight this. We are now facing the worst enemy we have ever faced in the history of this beautiful country. It is our owne goverment. We are slowly loosing our freedoms more and more each day. Wallstreet and every person that has helped this person to gain office should be put in prison if not put to death for what they have done. I amount to what they have done to treeson. They have taken one of our most sacred documents and trashed it. I am afraid that the only way that their will ever be a change in this country is the people bear arms and fight this.
Hello there. It’s a grait letter and fantastic words. You, americans, who always fight for freedom, can’t give up to a weak president like this now. Best regards from a farmer wo lives in the extreme south of Brazil, border with Uruguay, among comunists.
